For the younger monsteras proper lighting can make or break their growth. Although more tolerant than some other popular houseplants Monsteras do best with humidity of 40 and will typically develop leaf curling and brown leaf tips and edges with humidity much below this. With the correct care such as providing enough sunlight and water in time a monsteras leave should all split.

Oh and its usually a one-leaf-at-a-time type thing so if you have multiple leaves dying maybe keep a close eye on your plant.

If your Monstera leaves are starting to develop black spots it could be a sign of a few different problems. If you buy a monstera that already has split leaves you can get away with lesser lighting than you would for a baby monstera. If the edges of your monstera turn a light brown color and get crispy your plant might be thirsty. Keep in mind that after a leaf develops it will not change.
